Queen Horsemanship Pattern

Queens Freestyle
- Freestyle Reining not only provides an opportunity to use these maneuvers creatively, but also to expand them to music by means of choreography. Riders are encouraged to use musical scores which permit them to show the athletic ability of the horse in a crowd appealing way.
- Required Maneuvers.
- A minimum of two consecutive spins to the right
- A minimum of two consecutive spins to the left
- A minimum of one lead change at the lope from right to left
- A minimum of one lead change at the lope from left to right
- A minimum of one large fast and one small slow right circle
- A minimum of one large fast and one small slow left circle
- A minimum of one stop and left rollback
- A minimum of one stop and right rollback
- A minimum of one stop with no roll back
- Back a minimum of 10 feet.
- Contestants are allowed to use two (2) hands (as well as one or no hands)
- Failure to perform all the required maneuvers or failure to complete the performance within the time limit will result in penalties, including zeros for missed maneuvers, a deduction of points per second over time limit.
- Non-classical reining maneuvers such as half pass and side pass are appropriate in Freestyle and shall be given appropriate credit. Additional repetitions of required maneuvers are appropriate, but will only add or subtract from the existing scores already given for the required maneuvers, not as additional scores.
- Time Limit. A maximum of four (4) minutes including any introductions. The time limit will begin when the horse enters the arena and will end when the music stops. An additional 30 seconds (if needed) to set up or tear down props.
- Costumes. Permitted but not required. Emphasis is placed on performing the reining maneuvers to music.
- Music needs to be easily accessible on iTunes or a music downloading site (NOT YouTube). You will be able to have helpers for any props needed. PLEASE turn in music via text to Calli by WEDNESDAY before contest!
Queen Run and Flag Run
- Queen run will be around edge of arena, stopping in front of grandstands for introductions, then will be asked to exit.
- Flag run will be around edge of arena, all the way, in and out of the arena.
