RELEASE OF LIABILITY

I, the undersigned, being a non-paid contestant, applicant and participating in the Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo Queen Contest, which is sponsored by the American Legion, and as an express consideration for being allowed to enter the contest, hereby release said American Legion and all parties from any and all claims or demands for liability for accidents or any other liabilities and makes said agreement for herself, her heirs and executors and states that she is of lawful age and legally entitled to make this complete release or if she is a Princess contestant, one parent is to sign this release.All activities associated with the Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo Queen Contest officially ends at 12:00 a.m. on July 12th, 2026. After that time, American Legion or any of their representatives shall have no responsibility whatsoever in directing or overseeing any of the activities or affairs of any of the Contestants.

Rules & Requirements

  1. Age between 16 – 24 as of the date of contest
  2. Cannot be or have been engaged, married, or pregnant, or become engaged, married, or pregnant during reign.
  3. Be of good moral character
  4. Provide a copy of birth certificate
  5. All contestants must sell a minimum of $200 worth of raffle tickets. (Will be a cash award of at least $100 to high ticket sales for ALL contestants combined, NOT each division, this will not apply to points of winner in any way.)
  6. No parents are allowed in holding pen with contestants.
  7. American Legion queen committee will pay HALF of Miss Rodeo Oklahoma state pageant entry fee only. (You will have one year from time of title relinquished title to run. If win, take over June 18th, 2026, hand title off June/July 2027, must run by June 2028.)
  8. The Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo Queen will represent the Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo the following August and attend the following Queen Contest to relinquish title. She will attend other rodeos, parades, and any other events which will be asked of her be the queen committee.
  9. If the titleholder is unable fulfill her duties, the queen committee has the right to remove her title at which time she will return all items won within 30 days and the 1st runner up will resume queen responsibilities.

Queen Horsemanship Patterns

Queens Freestyle

  1. Freestyle Reining not only provides an opportunity to use these maneuvers creatively, but also to expand them to music by means of choreography. Riders are encouraged to use musical scores which permit them to show the athletic ability of the horse in a crowd appealing way.
  2. Required Maneuvers.
    1. A minimum of two consecutive spins to the right
    2. A minimum of two consecutive spins to the left
    3. A minimum of one lead change at the lope from right to left
    4. A minimum of one lead change at the lope from left to right
    5. A minimum of one large fast and one small slow right circle
    6. A minimum of one large fast and one small slow left circle
    7. A minimum of one stop and left rollback
    8. A minimum of one stop and right rollback
    9. A minimum of one stop with no roll back
    10. Back a minimum of 10 feet.
  3. Contestants are allowed to use two (2) hands (as well as one or no hands)
  4. Failure to perform all the required maneuvers or failure to complete the performance within the time limit will result in penalties, including zeros for missed maneuvers, a deduction ofpoints per second over time limit.
  5. Non-classical reining maneuvers such as half pass and side pass are appropriate in Freestyle and shall be given appropriate credit. Additional repetitions of required maneuvers are appropriate, but will only add or subtract from the existing scores already given for the required maneuvers, not as additional scores.
  6. Time Limit. A maximum of four (4) minutes including any introductions. The time limit will begin when the horse enters the arena and will end when the music stops. An additional 30 seconds (if needed) to set up or tear down props.
  7. Costumes. Permitted but not required. Emphasis is placed on performing the reining maneuvers to music.
  8. Music needs to be easily accessible on iTunes or a music downloading site (NOT YouTube). You will be able to have helpers for any props needed. PLEASE turn in music via text to Calli by WEDNESDAY before contest!
  9. Queen Run and Flag Run1. Queen run will be around edge of arena, stopping in front of grandstands for introductions, then will be asked to exit. 2. Flag run will be around edge of arena, all the way, in and out of the arena.

    1. Interview with Judges (at side of arena)
    2. Impromptu question over speaker (will be simple, personality, FUN, opinion question)

    1. Princess Freestyle
  6. Freestyle (you will have time to get ready during the princess freestyle).
    1. Princess Coronation
Coronation (same as queen run, not judged, after princess, need to be changed back into queen clothes before coronation

The arena will be open for practice June 13-17 at 6pm. You must attend at least ONE practice.
